LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Dozens of people continued their Oktoberfest celebration Sunday with an authentic German luncheon at the South Side Fest Grounds.
This is the first year Sloopy's Bar and Grill catered the meal consisting of schnitzel, spaetzle, red cabbage and potato salad.
Sloopy's owner Adam Weissenberger said his staff's been perfecting the menu for years since Sloopy's hosts a German food night every month.
Sunday they cooked enough to feed 400 people.
"It's unique. There are vendors down here who serve German food and they do it well, but to be asked to do this and serve a whole plate of dinner is very unique and very special for us," Weissenberger.
Sloopy's will also be catering an authentic German dinner Wednesday on the South Side Fest Grounds.
The meal goes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
