LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – A classic car show in downtown La Crosse Sunday raised $12,846 for area veterans.
Proceeds from the Oktoberfest Show and Shine will be divided between Operation Homefront, Freedom Honor Flight at WAFER.
Twelve area car clubs hosted the show at Dahl Automotive.
Vehicle registrations, a silent auction, lunch and Dahl Auto Museum fees contributed to the grand total.
"We have strong military support in our car clubs so we tend to fund where the money's needed, you know, support for the military troops, their kids," said Don Strittmater, chair of the Oktoberfest Show & Shine.
Trophies didn't necessarily go to the best car, but rather the owner who earned the most donations.
