LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Four La Crosse students are named as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship program for 2014.
Annelise Escher, Daniel Morrison, and Ryan Robinson of Central and Wilson Chaney of Logan received the honor announced Tuesday by each school's principal.
They are among 34,000 Commended Students in the country who are recognized for their academic achievements. They've placed in the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who were in the 2014 competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Two other district students, Allison Halter of Central and Evan Fisher of Logan were named National Merit Semifinalists. They's find out early next year if they qualify as a finalist.
