La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) There was a time when the UW-La Crosse-UW-Whitewater game was must see viewing for fans.
But not so much recently.
Whitewater has won the last 10 meetings between the two.
But the Eagles are undaunted by the 7th ranked Warhawks, who come to Harring Stadium this Saturday.
UW-L has had two weeks to prepare for their conference opener.
After an 0-3 start, the bye week has also given the team a chance to hit the "refresh" button on their season.
"Like former baseball pitcher Greg Maddux used to do when things go bad, he would slow down and go to the fundamentals. It's like things haven't gone well for us from a record standpoint so let's get back to the basics. Let's go good offense against good defense and do things the right way," said head coach Joel Dettwiler.
"I think we needed a week to regroup and dedicate a week to working hard. It was good and hopefully we can show how it helped us a little bit,' said defensive back Jacob Flegner.
Kickoff Saturday is set for 1pm.
