ONALASKA, WI (WXOW)—The designer of the 2013 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals holiday card watched as those cards were produced Friday.
10-year-old FaithRose Wateski's design was chosen as the winner.
She toured Empire Screen Printing with her family.
FaithRose is a fifth grader at Southern Bluffs Elementary.
She wanted to design a card to help CMNH because the organization has helped her family.
FaithRose was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate.
She has attended four years of equestrian therapy funded by CMNH.
Her family said it has made a world of difference in her concentration levels, self-esteem and ability to relate to animals and people.
FaithRose is thrilled to be able to assist in fundraising for such a wonderful charity.
"All my friends are just happy about it and I've told everybody in school and they're nuts about me right now even my art teacher is so overwhelmed about it," FaithRose said.
Her design was inspired by her favorite book series "Warriors."
"My favorite cats are Firepaw, Graypaw and Bluestar," she said. "So I decided to put them in the Christmas tree part and I decided to have Bluestar try undo the lights, but she got in a mess with it."
FaithRose's holiday cards will go on sale November 1 at various locations in the area including the Gundersen Health System Gift Shop, Children's Museum and Degen Berglund Pharmacy.
Since 1987, Empire Screen Printing has been a proud partner of the CMNH holiday card project, donating time and materials to produce each year's design.
Proceeds from card sales support services to children and their families from CMNH no matter their illness, injury or where they receive their healthcare.
