LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW) ---------- Homecomings have not been kind to UW-La Crosse in recent seasons, Saturday was no different.
UW-Whitewater knocks UW-L 47-3, handing the Eagles one of their worse losses in program history.
The game started off promising for the Eagles, after falling behind 3-0, La Crosse rallied for a 10 play, 53 yard drive which ended in a Matt Van Druten field goal to tie the game at 3.
But from that point on it was all Warhawks.
UW-Whitewater scored the next 44 points to send UW-L to an 0-4 start.
"I've never been associated with something like that in my career. It's very hard to be associated with that and have my name on that right now," said Head Coach Joel Dettwiler. "It's beyond getting angry were just out there playing backyard football and (they) don't understand what the L on our helmet means, that's not La Crosse football."
