ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Onalaska Fire Department brought out some colorful characters to help with its National Fire Prevention Week activities.
Students from area schools gather at Irving Pertzsch Elementary for a 'fire safety jeopardy' show.
Firefighters in costume and Lieutenant Larry are contestants and answer fire safety trivia questions.
After the game show students walk over to the fire station and get a tour of the station, turnout gear, and trucks.
The message of this years National Fire Prevention Week is to prevent kitchen fires.
Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries.
