Government Shutdown Affect on Flu Vaccine

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Locally, the government shutdown is affecting the La Crosse Health Department. They say no information about influenza is being released because the Centers for Disease Control are unable to compile the information on where reported cases of the virus are around the country.

Doug Mormann, Director of the La Crosse Health Department said, "People really shouldn't and don't need to wait to find out there's influenza in South Dakota heading toward Wisconsin or not. We should just be making good decisions now and getting vaccinated."

Doug added that the lack of information from the CDC really means that health departments around the country may not be able to act as quickly when moving the vaccine to where it is needed.
