LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - It was a perfect day out Saturday for some chili, at State Bank's annual chili cook off.
23 chefs competed for a variety of prizes, including best artistic presentation and of course best chili.
The chefs were told to have 15 gallons of chili prepared.
This year organizers chose a new location, Riverside Park, which they say is more family friendly than the parking lot of State Bank.
Cook-off goers paid five dollars for all the chili they could eat then could vote for their favorite with donations.
Money raised goes to La Crosse's drug and gang resistance educations programs, DARE And GREAT.
Jodi Ehrenberger with State Bank Financial says, "I think it's the right time of the year and it's fun to do. Everybody has a chili that they consider their claim to fame, and they want to get out and have a chance to share it with everyone."
This was the cook-off's 22nd year.
