Viterbo's Machometa earns NAIA honor

Posted:
La Crosse, WISCONSIN  One day after being named Midwest Collegiate Conference women's soccer offensive player of the week, Viterbo University sophomore Molly Machometa (McHenry, Ill.) is named NAIA National Player of the Week, announced today by the NAIA office.

Machometa continued her scoring streak last week as she recorded two hat tricks and two assists in two V-Hawk wins. In Viterbo's 7-0 win over Mount Mercy University last Tuesday, Machometa scored three goals and assisted on another two. She followed that impressive performance up with another three goal performance against nationally recognized Grand View University. Her three goals was all the scoring the V-Hawks needed as they defeated the Vikings 3-0.

After missing the first four games of the season due to an injury, Machometa has been a scoring machine for the V-Hawks. In nine matches, Machometa has recorded 16 goals and 7 assists to lead the MCC in scoring. She has scored at least a point in every game she has played in this season and ranks seventh in the country in total points and eighth in total goals. In just two seasons for the V-Hawks, Machometa already ranks third on the all-time goals list with 46 goals and fourth on the all-time points list with 110 points.
