ONALASKA, WI (WXOW)—An Onalaska family is getting a home makeover thanks to some local businesses.
In celebration of the tenth anniversary of her business, Rooms by Jess, Jessica Apfel Miller's, asked her clients to nominate a family for a home makeover.
She chose the Stage family; both parents work multiple jobs to support their five kids.
In the midst of a leaking roof, flooded basement and a sick child, mom, Jenni, is fighting a cancerous brain tumor.
Volunteers are giving the family a new kitchen, living room, landscaping and turning their garage into a lounge for the kids.
"It's been happy tears and sad tears this last month just preparing for it. It feels amazing, words cannot describe it," Miller said.
The Stage family will take a limo, from the hotel they've been staying in for the last couple days, back to their house on Thursday evening for the big reveal.
The public is invited to a dance-a-thon and silent auction, to help cover Jenni's medical expenses, on Saturday, October 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Onalaska High School.
