Leave your porch light on for Jacob and all missing children
La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) - A Minnesota organization is asking the public to commit to creating hope and light in the world in honor of Jacob Wetterling.
Jacob was abducted on Oct. 22, 1989, in Saint Joseph, Minnesota. The case remains open and unsolved. Jacob's story has left an indelible mark on the hearts of thousands, if not millions of people throughout Minnesota, the United States and throughout the world.
In honor of Jacob, the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center (JWRC) is asking to public to keep their porch light on Oct. 22. In addition to turning on an outside light, they are encouraging individuals to let their own lights shine. Help a neighbor, talk to your child about safety or support a local child-serving organization.
Jacob's legacy continues to be honored as JWRC, a program of Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center, provides case management and prevention education to families in Minnesota and across the country.
