Winona, MINNESOTA  The Winona State men's basketball team has been picked to finish second in the NSIC in a vote of the conference's head coaches, the league announced today.

The Warriors received 191 total points in the voting, tied with St. Cloud State for second in the poll. WSU was also tabbed to finish second in the NSIC South Division standings, trailing only Minnesota State who received 15 of a possible 16 first place votes.

Winona State returns a pair of starters from a team that won the 2013 Central Region Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the fourth time in school history. WSU went 27-8 a season ago, with graduated senior Clayton Vette earning National Player of the Year honors.

Seniors Taylor Cameron and Kellen Taylor return to lead a young Warrior squad that features five freshmen. Cameron averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last year, while Taylor chipped in 6.5 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Winona State will begin its season on Nov. 2 with an exhibition matchup against Illinois Wesleyan. The team will begin regular season play on Nov. 8 against American University in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
