News 19's Weather Academy Visits Hamilton Elementary

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - News 19's Weather Academy made a stop by Hamilton Elementary Thursday to teach children why weather acts the way it does. Our forecast team showed the students a variety of experiments recreating weather events like tornados, hail, and cloud formation. The children also learned about weather safety. They learned that you are in danger of being struck by lightning if you can hear thunder and that it only takes about two feet of flood water to float a car.

Kaitlyn Erickson, student at Hamilton Elementary said, "I learned lots of experiments you could do. Some of them I could already do at home and I learned some safety points about weather."

The weather team was back at the school later Thursday night for family night with more experiments and exciting weather facts.
