Sparta man arrested after he threatened to shoot up Police Dept.

SPARTA, Wisconsin (WXOW) A Sparta man is arrested after police said he threatened to shoot up the Sparta Police Department.

Monroe County Communications Center said on Monday around 2 a.m., they received a call about an intoxicated man in the Hangout Bar.  The caller stated that Matthew Ames, 24, was telling people in the bar that he had a gun and intended on shooting up the Police Department. 

Officers found Ames standing outside the bar and saw a handgun in his waistband.  He was arrested and faces charges for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Carrying a Handgun where Alcohol is Sold/Consumed, and Operating a Firearm while Intoxicated. 

He will appear in a Monroe County court room on Oct. 30th for a bond hearing.
