LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – It's been about five months since the city began revitalizing the Powell-Poage-Hamilton neighborhood on La Crosse's south side.
Renée Miranda benefited from the ReNEW project.
Volunteers removed her deck, painted, repaired stairs and replaced her gutters.
Miranda said without ReNEW, she couldn't have afforded the updates, adding she finally lives in a home she's proud of.
"It wasn't very welcoming to me or anyone else that I would ask over – which I didn't do too much," Miranda said. "But I just think it's beautiful now."
Miranda has lived in the Powell-Poage-Hamilton neighborhood for 20 years. She said the city's revitalization efforts is making the area a more attractive place to live.
