WEST SALEM, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The West Salem School District wants to purchase land to expand their campus.
Superintendent Troy Gunderson said there is not enough space for the district to keep adding students to the middle and elementary school. He states the district is projecting the student population will continue grow and they could encounter the same problem down the road. So Monday, the school district will discuss purchasing more land in La Crosse County for further developments if needed.
"We want to be able to preserve our campus concept for many years to come and we believe over the next forseeable future that West Salem is going to continue to grow and having additional acreage attached to our campus will allow us to expand athletic outdoor facilities and or buildings as our community continues to grow," said Gunderson.
Gunderson also said the West Salem community enjoys the fact that all the school buildings are close together and if approved, he hopes to continue that concept.
