La Crescent, MINNESOTA (WXOW) La Crescent girls soccer will be making their 6th ever appearance at State Thursday.
The 17-1 Lancers cruised through the regular season and are ready for the upcoming challenge.
"We're very excited. It's a great opportunity for us. It's been a marvelous season and this is just an added bonus," said head coach Ed Hoskin.
"I'm really excited. I can't even put it in words how exciting it is. It's my first year going. It's my senior year and it's very special to me," said senior Liza Timm.
"I'm really excited. I'm super pumped. And to go with this team is going to be really fun," said senior Reilly Hannon.
The lancers road to success is due in large part to their defensive play.
Only allowing less than 1 goal per match all year.
"I think that the whole team works together as a defense. It starts at our offense our midfields and we kind of just put it all together. It's everyone on the team not just us," Timm said.
"We just work really hard and work really well as a team back there. We've played a lot of games together so we know each others strengths and weaknesses so we can pick each other up," Hannon said.
"I feel if we play our game and play consistently the way we've been doing. We'll have a good chance," said Hoskin.
La Crescent and Mankato West will kickoff at 5:30pm Thursday in St. Louis Park.
