PEWAUKEE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A Riverfront participant and a local employer from Vernon County are honored for their contributions Thursday.
The Wisconsin Chapter of the Association of People Supporting Employment First named Alex L'Hote as Supported Employee of the Year, while his employer, the Vernon County Humane Society, was recipient of the Small Employer of the Year award.
"We are so glad extend our congratulations to Alex L'Hote and the Vernon County Humane Society. They worked together to make this happen, and the recognition is well deserved," commented Riverfront President and CEO Mary Kessens. "It is a wonderful example of the success that results from collaborative efforts to place adults with disabilities into jobs with local employers. It is a win all the way around."
Alex was hired after an internship at the Humane Society. He now works ten hours a week at the shelter including a solo weekend shift.
Riverfront, based in La Crosse and seven other locations, provides opportunities for employment and independent living to adults with disabilities in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
