La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) Safe to say that's what the Eagles defense had in mind when they held UW-Stout to a mere 3 points in a 21-3 win last Saturday.
It was the Eagles first win of the season.
UW-La Crosse is preparing for a home showdown with UW-Stevens Point this Saturday.
The defense had been abused, giving up 36 points a game before they turned in a signature performance against the Blue Devils.
They're hoping it will be a sign of things to come the rest of the way.
"It was a big confidence booster. But we still have 4 games left this season. We've got to play hard and keep it going and make sure we get some more wins," said safety Jake Perner
"I think they bought into the scheme. We tweaked the scheme a little bit to match up with their strengths. They're gang tackling. They're playing physical. I think they've just decided that they've bought into the scheme as a group and it's really fun to watch," said head coach Joel Dettwiler.
The Eagles and Pointers kick off at 1pm Saturday at Harring Stadium.
UW-L has won the last two games in the series.
