LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The man accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home in La Crosse and brutally beating her current boyfriend, stood mute to charges and waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday.
Thomas Beitlich, 31, is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon.
If convicted, he could spend up to 65 years in prison.
The court also added a charge of armed burglary.
Prosecutors said Beitlich broke into 1502 Ferry Street on Sunday, Oct. 6.
When police arrived at the house, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with several skull fractures.
If the victim survives, he will have serious brain injuries, according to the criminal complaint.
Beitlich is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
