LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – With just four days until Halloween, kids had a chance to make some last-minute decorations Sunday at La Crosse's Scarecrow Fest.
The annual event is hosted by the city's Parks & Recreation Department at the South Side Neighborhood Center.
More than 100 kids and their families put on costumes and painted pumpkins, drew scary pictures, even main their own scarecrow.
Those who attended also got a free lunch.
"Sometimes families don't like to go out at night in the dark and trick or treat and stuff. So this just gives them a good way to meet friends in a safe environment," said Megan Trotter, special recreation coordinator for Parks & Rec.
UW-L's Therapeutic Recreation Club also helped organize the fest.
