The 101st Wisconsin High School State Cross Country meet in Wisconsin Rapids was held on Saturday.
In Division 1, Matt Hibshman from Onalaska had the best local finish, he comes in 28th place. His teammate Blake Reynolds the next local across the line in 34th place.
Chris Ganrude had the highest finish for La Crosse Logan, he came in 40th place to help the Rangers finish 4th overall as a team.
"It's awesome I'll tell you what, certainly who wouldn't want to win this darn thing and we talked about that. Anytime you finish in the top 5 in Division 1, you can't be nothing but thrilled and happy for the kids. Our kids really ran great," said Logan Head Coach Pat Mulrooney.
In Division 2, Mauston's Taylor Miller was the first area runner to finish. Miller takes home 8th place. Mackenzie Schneider is the first Blackhawks from Virquoa to cross the finish line in 46th place. In the boy's race, It's a fellow Blackhawk Isaiah Abt had a strong race, Abt finished in 10th.
My goal was top 10 but when everyone kept telling me I was in like 14th, 13th I just decided that I was just going to go for it and go take it home," said Abt.
In Division 3, Westby had a nice day. Austin Pasch placed 26th and helped the Westby boys finish in 6th place as a team. While Becca Maxwell, finished in 11th place on the girls side.
"I was really proud of my time because I PR'ed by about 20 or 30 seconds but it was disappointing taking 11th, instead of 10th, that was my goal but overall I was proud of what I did," said Maxwell.
