Koenig ready for Badgers debut

Madison, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  The basketball Badgers will open the season Friday night against St. John's.

The game will be Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which is where Aquinas grad Bronson Koenig will likely make his collegiate debut.

The prized recruit will be on the court this season, as long as he is earning minutes in a crowded backcourt.

He's impressed so far with his passing and improving defense.

Koenig believes he will be able to contribute right away.

"As a player you have to be very confident in yourself. I hope to get some playing time this year and help my team any way I can. You really can't take plays off in college. Coach Ryan is a very defensive coach. What I did in high school is distribute the basketball, do some draw-and-kicks and stuff like that," Koenig said.

Friday night's tip-off is set for 6pm.
