La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The UW-La Crosse women's basketball team has hit the court once again ready to begin their upcoming season.
Last years team suffered some disappointing losses including two of their starters to season ending injuries.
Those girls return this fall to a team full of underclassmen talent and increased athleticism, something the Eagle's are really looking forward to utilizing.
"You know certainly we're trying to play a little more up-tempo, so that will be interesting. I think we have the athletes that can do that. We're probably going to play a little bit more pressure defense, a little more up-tempo defense. But again, we have to stay healthy and we take one game at a time and see what happens," said head coach Lois Heeren.
"With our athleticism we'll be running up and down the court going fast break. So like I said it's and exciting group, and I can't wait for games to start," said senior forward Katie Ehlen.
The Eagles will open the season with an exhibition next Wednesday at Winona St.
