Man injured in fall from tree stand in Allamakee County

WAUKON, Iowa (WXOW) - A Wisconsin man is hurt after he fell from a deer hunting stand in rural Allamakee County Sunday.

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office says 50-year-old Thomas Cheney of Edgerton, Wisconsin fell as he was removing a tree stand in the French Creek Public Hunting Area.

He fell just before noon.  Cheney was able to call 911 from his cell phone to get help.

He was airlifted to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse a short time later.

Authorities had no word on Cheney's condition.
