LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A court appearance Thursday for the Chicago man accused of shooting a woman this past June.
Cordero Short is charged with Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide for shooting a woman near 5th and Winnebago Streets on June 16.
In the criminal complaint, Short told his foster mother about the shooting that the "girl came from nowhere and walked right between them." Short had been in an argument with another man and was shooting at him when he allegedly shot the woman.
Bond was reduced during his court appearance from $1 million down to $250,000 cash bond.
He returns to court on November 26 for his preliminary hearing to determine if his case should go to trial.
The 22-year-old Short faces a maximum 65 year sentence if convicted.

According to online jail records, 22-year-old Cordero Short is in the La Crosse County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
He was arrested on November 14 in a Chicago suburb. Records show he was booked into the jail on Wednesday.
The criminal complaint shows Short facing a charge of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide in the June 16 shooting near 5th and Winnebago Streets.
The complaint says that according to Short, the woman got between himself and his intended victim, another man. The woman was wounded in the lower back.
Online records do not show when Short is scheduled to make an appearance in court.
La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) – A Chicago man is arrested in connection with a shooting in La Crosse this past summer.
The La Crosse County District Attorney has charged Cordero Short with Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide.
La Crosse Police said on June 16, they were dispatched to the area of 5th and Winnebago for a report of a woman who had been shot. The 24-year-old female had been shot in the lower back.
As part of the investigation, police interviewed the victim as well as several other witnesses, but no reliable information was obtained.
According to the criminal complaint, Short admitted to a woman, who identified herself as his foster mother, that he shot someone in La Crosse. Police interviewed the woman, who lives in Dolton, Il. She said Short told her he meant to shoot someone else and "the girl came from nowhere and walked right between them".
La Crosse Police said late Thursday afternoon that Short was arrested in a Chicago suburb.
