La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) La Crosse Central star wrestler Ben Thornton put his signature to a letter of intent to compete at Purdue University on scholarship Thursday.
Thornton has won one WIAA individual state title and finished runner up twice.
He also won the Bi-State class three times and enter this season with a 146-2 career mark.
"It feels great. I'm really excited. I'm glad I signed with Purdue. They've been recruiting me since my freshmen year. When I went down there to visit it felt right. Big Ten wrestling is pretty prestigious. I'm really excited to be a Boilermaker," Thornton said during a signing ceremony at Central High School Thursday.
