LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- The Salvation Army giving tree is now up at the Valley View Mall.
The tree is decorated with tags, each one is for a child in need. The tag includes needs and clothing sizes and you can grab a tag, shop for your child. Items can be dropped off at the Salvation Army or back at the tree. There487 families registered for the tree this year, and the salvation army makes sure everyone gets something.
"Often times at Christmas it makes us realize how much we have," said Julie Nelson, of the Salvation Army. :How much more stuff do we really need at home when there's someone else that says, 'Oh my gosh, I can't even afford a shirt for my kid for Christmas.' So it's a real good reminder of how blessed we each are and that we have that ability to give to someone else."
Gifts are due back by December 6 and if you don't' want to shop, you can always drop off a monetary donation to help buy gifts.
