LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Before shoppers took to the web Monday, many spent time at the Valley View Mall over the weekend.
The mall opened its doors at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and stayed open for 26 hours.
It's the earliest the mall has opened for Black Friday shopping.
Mall manager Jeff Odom said because of the early start, there was a lull between midnight and 8 a.m. But overall, sales were up.
"It did kind of spread it out, and a part of that is good for us and the consumer. You don't have that rush of shoppers at that peak point, but you had it spread out throughout the day and that's what we saw," Odom said.
Odom said he'll be looking at the final sales numbers from Brown Thursday and Black Friday before the mall decides whether to open that early next year.
