La Crosse, WIS. (WXOW) - After recording their 10th straight win in the Alumni Cup over Viterbo last Monday, the UW-La Crosse men's basketball team has had a week to rest and shift their focus to the conference opener against River Falls.
The Eagles (4-1) were picked to finish 5th in the WIAC Pre-season Poll.
But UW-L believes they are ready to prove they can play with the top teams in one of the nation's best conferences.
"I'd like to think we really have a chance to compete for a championship that's what we battle for that's what we talk about it's going to take a lot and things are going to have to go our way we know that but I defiantly think we got the talent we got the makeup could be a team that can do that," said Head Coach Ken Koelbl.
"I definitely think we can finish near the top that's always our goal to win conference it's going to be a tough test there are some tough teams on top but I think were every bit as good as those teams up there," said senior guard Braden Tice.
The Eagles open up WIAC play Wednesday night at Mitchell Hall vs. River Falls at 7:00 P.M.
