ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- Dozens of kids braved the cold weather Saturday to kick off the YMCA's winter walk-run series.
The Rudolph Dash is for kids ages three to 10. Those who participated even got to meet Rudolph the red-nose reindeer at the finish line.
The YMCA also hosted the jingle bell walk-run, with a 5-K, 5-mile and treadmill option. Organizers say these winter runs encourage people to stay fit throughout the winter.
"I think it's a great idea because a lot of times it's easy to kind of nestle in and not get outside during the winter and this gave us a way to get out and be committed to getting ourselves outside during the winter," said Amanda Jackson, who ran along with her son Brecken.
After the races, participants were treated to a warm breakfast.
