LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The current cold temperatures are about 20 degrees below average for this time of year, according to the La Crosse National Weather Service.
These temperatures set the La Crosse area up for a very cold December, said Todd Shea, NWS warning coordination meteorologist.
The La Crosse area is about average in terms of snowfall this month. According to Shea, the snow tends to get heavier around the middle of the month.
"I always tell people to expect the big variety that we typically get in Wisconsin," Shea said. "Prepare for those occasional winter storms, and like we currently had, the cold blasts that come through the area."
Shea said it's too soon to make predictions about what the weather could be like in January and February.
