LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Governor Scott Walker and other members of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation board stopped in La Crosse Tuesday.
Logistics Health, Inc. hosted the board's meeting.
The WEDC is a public/private corporation created in 2011 and to replace the state's former commerce department.
The Governor said the board aims to boost economic growth and expansion in Wisconsin through providing businesses with access to capital and crafting business-friendly policies.
He said the WEDC can be a deciding factor in drawing businesses "looking to grow" to Wisconsin -- especially when those businesses also have options out of state.
In the past two years, the WEDC has provided grants to 12, La Crosse-area businesses ranging in size from $500 to $1.5-million.
