OSSEO, Wisconsin (WXOW) - An SUV crash Tuesday morning forced troopers to shut down northbound I-94 near Osseo to allow a hospital helicopter to land on the interstate to pick up one of the victims for treatment.
It happened around 10:00 a.m. by the Highway 10 interchange. The Wisconsin State Patrol said the crash happened when an SUV hit a slippery spot on a bridge deck on I-94 and hit a guardrail.
The driver, from Camp Douglas, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. His wife was airlifted from the scene.
Both were wearing seat belts and the vehicle's airbags deployed. The state patrol says their injuries are not life threatening.
The crash caused a traffic backup, but the highway was re-opened a short time later.
