WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says Highway 43 between Wilson and Winona has been closed since mid-morning due to a crash involving a school bus. It's not clear when that portion of the road will re-open.
The State Patrol says it is an injury crash, but so far there is no word on how many people were injured or how serious those injuries are.
The accident happened on Highway 43 at County Road 21. According to the State Patrol, the school bus was northbound on Highway 43 when it was sideswiped by a Chevy Cavalier. The bus then entered the southbound lanes of Highway 43 and hit a Chevy Cobalt that was southbound on Highway 43. The Chevy Cavalier then went on to hit a Buick Regal that was northbound on Highway 43.
When KTTC arrived on scene, one car that appeared totaled was in the middle of Highway 43. At least 7 law enforcement vehicles were on the scene. State troopers were re-constructing the crash scene, marking tire prints in the snow with fluorescent colored spray paint.
Traffic was redirected away from Highway 43 to Stone Point Road. We're continuing to follow this story, and will have more information as it becomes available.
