YMCA Needs Mentors

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Role models are extremely important for children and sometimes parents and teachers aren't able to meet all of those needs. That is why the YMCA started the Reach and Rise mentoring program. The program started in October and is still in the process of training its first mentors. The list of mentees is growing fast and the program is in need of mentors.

Mentor, Eric Williams said, "Mentors come in all shapes and sizes, so I feel that if you're a mentor and you feel that you want to do this, go for it. You only fail when you don't try. So, try it out and if it doesn't work for you, at least you can say you did it."
To be a mentor you must be 23 or older. All professions and education levels are encouraged. You need to be able to spend between one and three hours per week with a mentee and commit to one year of mentoring.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, you can visit the YMCA website for more details.
