MILLSTON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - No one is injured when a mobile home is destroyed by fire Friday morning in the Jackson County community of Millston.
The Black River Falls Fire Department was called to W6835 Coffey Road at 11:17am according to Chief Steve Schreiber, who provided the photos seen in the slideshow above.
A passerby spotted the fire and went to a nearby business to call 911.
When firefighters arrived, they found no one inside the home. Heavy fire was coming from the 14'x80' mobile home with an addition.
Although the home was insured, it was a total loss. No damage estimate was available.
The cause of the fire isn't known at this time. Chief Schreiber said that a wood stove was in use, it doesn't appear to be the cause of the fire. The two people that lived at the home, Rodney and Thyra Zirk, told investigators they had left about a half-hour before the fire was reported.
Chief Schreiber says the department used 14,600 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. The department spent about three-and-a-half hours at the scene.
The American Red Cross is assisting the couple.
