TREMPEALEAU, Wisconsin (WXOW)- A 19-year-old is in jail after leading officers on a chase through Trempealeau County that hit speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
Austin Ratkus was arrested late Saturday night. The Trempealeau Police Department says officers attempted to pull Ratkus over for traffic violations on Saturday, and instead of stopping, he sped up. Police say the chase lasted around 17 minutes and speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour.
During the chase, Ratkus hit a squad car twice. Police say there were three passengers in the vehicle and they all jumped out during the pursuit. No one was hurt.
Ratkus eventually pulled over voluntarily and was arrested. The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department and Galesville Police Department helped Trempealeau Police during the chase.
Ratkus is being held in the Trempealeau County Jail ahead of a court appearance.
