LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – About 600 people put on their best, ugly Christmas sweaters for a run through Riverside Park Sunday.
The Rotary Club of La Crosse After Hours hosted the Ugly Sweater 5K.
Proceeds will help fund local tutoring services, and supply bicycles, textbooks and desks to schools in Tororo, Uganda, Africa.
The club hopes the run raises about $25,000.
"A lot of the Rotary Clubs in this area have gotten older, you know. And so we want to do something fun, spice it up, spice up this race, and really connect and really connect with our younger generation," said Lindsay Johnson, chair of the Ugly Sweater 5K.
The club's mission is to help youth locally and abroad.
