Dangerous water rescue in Beaver Dam saves man's life


TRENTON TOWNSHIP, Wisconsin (WXOW) --- A man is rescued from the freezing waters of Beaver Dam Lake Saturday morning.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Department responded to call of a man in the water at the lake around 2:45 a.m. 

A Fox Lake Police officer who was the first on the scene used a thermal imaging device to locate the man 300 yards off shore.  

Officials say the man had driven his 4 wheel ATV off the ice and into open water.

The ATV was submerged and the man was standing on it to keep his head above water.

A roped flotation device was used to pull the subject out.

The man was take to Beaver Dam Community Hospital.  His condition isn't known.
