MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A 20 month prison sentence for a Tomah man who held up four Madison area pharmacies earlier this year.
On Tuesday, 35-year-old Jesse Kirk received his sentence in federal court in Madison.
He was convicted in October of a 10-day, four pharmacy robbery spree in April. According to prosecutors, Kirk took various types of controlled substances, such as OxyContin, during the robberies.
In the sentencing, Judge Lynn Adelman said that while the robberies stemmed from Kirk's drug addiction, a prison term was necessary due to the severity of the conduct and threats of violence made during the holdups.
