West Salem boys off to fast start

West Salem, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  West Salem boys hoops is hoping this is their breakthrough year.

The Panthers are off to a 7-1 start after Tuesday night's 76-60 non-conference win over Bangor.

The 7 wins is just 4 less than they had all of the last year and we have yet to hit January.

The Panthers have been on the fringe of the Coulee Conference title chase the past two seasons while relying on a lot of young players.

But now those young guys have experience and it's showing.

"As young guys we kind of took our lumps. Now we're starting to get it rolling. Everyone is coming together and it's really good. Really good chemistry too," said junior guard Baily Williams.

"We talked earlier this season about having two goals. One is to become better everyday and to become better teammates. Those are the only two goals we have. Everything else is just destination. So if we get there it's because we did those two things day after day, week after week and possession after possession. Everything else will take care of itself," said head coach Chad Hayes.

West Salem will host Arcadia Friday.
