Annual Career Day for school students


La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) – Students leaned about their choices after high school at the 22nd annual 8th grade career day.

The annual event is held at Western Technical College. It consisted of 70 different professionals from the area. The professionals discuss their careers as well as the education and training necessary to meet career goals.

"Kids get to see a wide variety of all kinds of careers and also learn about what types of classes they want to take in high school to pursue those eventually," said Katie Thompson, La Crosse Choices Task Force. "They get the chance to ask all the questions they might want of these professional in their field."

The career day is sponsored by the La Crosse Choices Task Force, which consists of the school to work coordinator from La Crosse, middle school counselors and representatives from Options Clinic, Valley View Rotary Club and Western Technical College.

Eight-hundred students attended Thursday's event.
