Holiday season air travel expected to slightly drop compared to 2012

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The number of people traveling by plane this holiday season is expected to drop slightly from last year, according to AAA.

Air travel may decrease by 1.4 percent, even though the average lowest round-trip rate is $5 cheaper than in 2012, according to AAA.

AAA Sales & Service Agent Kurt Keppel said it's because gas prices are down about $0.15 a gallon from the same time last year.

"I think the biggest impact of it is because the gas prices are down so significantly. And I think people are a little more aware of that perhaps versus the air travel rates," Keppel said.
