LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Ice anglers will have a brief chance to fish for free next month.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has announced free fishing, no license or trout stamp needed, will be available to Wisconsinites the weekend of January 18 and 19.
On that weekend, anglers will be able to fish anywhere in Wisconsin. The free fishing weekend applies not just to the state's inland waters, but also Wisconsin's part of the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.
