La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Most of us will be faced with a table full of food and treats this holiday, which can be challenge if your trying to watch your weight.
Mayo Clinic Health System's Dietitian Romi Pattison said there are ways to enjoy the goodies without busting your diet goals.
First eat in moderation. If you allow yourself some treats, make sure to save room for fruits, vegetables and proteins with the meal.
However, if you can't resist the urges, Pattison said there are some healthy alternatives.
"Instead of eggnog, you can try a low fat, sugar free, latte and they have eggnog and all sorts of flavors," said Pattison. "Instead of the traditional creamy, green bean casserole, you can use a low fat cream of mushroom soup or you can make it with the roasted green beans with almonds and garlic instead."
