La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) Christmas has come and gone for the year but for 55 Wisconsin and Minnesota high school wrestling teams there is one more present they would love to receive,A Bi-State Wrestling championship.
People from all over region will be packing the La Crosse Center Friday and Saturday for the start of the 32nd Bi-State Wrestling Classic.
The Classic is one of the top tournaments in the Midwest and for the teams participating, it has been marked on their schedules since the season began.
That includes the host of the tournament, Holmen.
The Vikings come in as one of the top rated teams in Wisconsin and look forward to proving why this weekend.
"I think we have stuff to show people this week and come out and work hard and hopefully wrestle well and place high at the top. Our goal is always number 1," said Holmen senior Noah Risch.
"I think it would be a great way to go into the 2nd half of our season winning this tournament and getting the ball rolling preparing for the end of the season. That's the goal and that's where it's going to stand," said Holmen head coach Jason Lulloff.
The action starts with the prelims Friday morning at 9:30.
The tournament concludes with the championship bouts Saturday at 4:35pm.
