Woman killed in Jackson Co. snowmobile crash


BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin (WXOW) - An Illinois woman is dead in a snowmobile accident on New Year's Eve.

Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department got a call about a missing snowmobiler shortly before 9:00 p.m.

A woman, Judi Nykaza, of Grayslake, Illinois, became separated from two other snowmobiles.

Deputies and volunteers searched the area around Manchester Township for more than two hours before passersby called the sheriff's department to say they had found the woman around 11:20 p.m.

She was discovered along County Road O crashed in a ditch.  Nykaza, who was unresponsive, was given medical assistance including CPR and a automated defibrillator, was taken to Black River Falls Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
