MERRILL (WAOW) - A bus driver accused of sending nude photos and several text messages to a student was sentenced to a year in jail and seven years probation Friday, according to Lincoln County online court records.
Bobb Bergman, 53, of Gleason, was convicted of two felonies after pleading no contest to exposing a child to harmful material and causing a child to view or listen to sexual activities. As part of a plea bargain, two other felonies were dismissed.
According to court documents, Bergman was accused in April 2012 of sending about 10 picture messages and several text messages to a then-11 year old Merrill student who rode Bergman's bus. Investigators said many of the messages were nude photos.
During Friday's sentencing, Circuit Judge Jay Tlusty ordered Bergman to begin the jail sentence with work privileges immediately, court records said. Terms of the probation include that Bergman perform 350 hours of community service and that he have no access to a computer, the internet or a cell phone with a camera without a probation agent's approval.
The judge gave Bergman credit for two days already spent in jail, court records said.
